- <p> DIED. CHARLES MOORE, 68, architect; from a heart attack; in
- Austin, Texas. Moore, whose habitually frenetic, transcontinental
- work schedule amazed his peers, was among the fathers of Post-Modernism,
- the jaunty pseudo-old-fashioned style that became ubiquitous
- during the past decade. Among his influential works was the
- Piazza d'Italia, a 1978 plaza in New Orleans that features neon
- arches. Moore was scrupulous about designing buildings that
- faithfully reflected their settings. Sea Ranch, for example,
- a resort completed in the latter '60s, consists of plain, angular
- wooden buildings that echo their Pacific cliffs site.
